Wicketkeeper-batter Sam Billings has been added to the England squad for the fifth Test against India at Edgbaston which begins on July 1. Billings served as the substitute for Ben Foakes who tested positive for Covid-19 during the third Test against New Zealand. Foakes complained of back stiffness and was unable to take the gloves on Day 3. Later, he underwent a test which revealed a positive result and he subsequently went into isolation. The addition of Billings increases the England squad strength to 15 as they have refrained from tinkering with the team that won the final Test against New Zealand.
