England have staged an excellent fightback to fetch a first innings lead of 31 runs. If they can manage to snuff out a wicket or two before New Zealand wipe out that deficit, they will be absolutely buoyed. The visitors now have a tricky period to negotiate before the lunch break. There was a huge round of applause for Jonny Bairstow. He acknowledges the standing ovation as he walks back to the pavilion having scored a match-defining 162 off just 157 balls. After losing their 8th wicket, England immediately lose their last two and they would be happy with the comeback after being in a rut at 55/6.
A fitting ovation for a special performance 🙌
Well played, @JBairstow21 👏
