R Ashwin missed the flight to UK with the Test squad last week due to a positive Covid-19 result. India play England in a Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham, starting on July 1 in the fifth and final clash of the Test series that started last summer.
The Chennai spinner was unable to board the flight from Mumbai on June 16 along with other members after contracting the virus. Now sources within the Board of Control for Cricket in India have confirmed to Cricbuzz that arrangements are being made for the veteran cricketer and he should link up with the rest of his teammates soon. It is learned by the publication that Jayant Yadav was kept as a standby should Ashwin fail to recover in time.
