England amassed an extraordinary 250/3 against South Africa on this day back in 2018, with their herculean effort being powered by a 47-ball century from Tammy Beaumont – her third for in as many innings after her exploits helped England Women clinch the ODI series against the Proteas the previous week. Beaumont, whose 116 from 52 balls included four of England’s nine sixes and 18 of their 33 fours, offered sympathy for the opposition who had to play twice in one day in the fledgling round-robin competition. Her shots across the line during the knock would have instilled fear in the mind of any bowler.
