The runs that India stole at the death are absolutely crucial. The hosts wouldn’t have anticipated getting anywhere closer to 170 at one stage but Dinesh Karthik, on a comeback trail, came out all guns blazing at the fag end of the innings to carry them to 169. India’s designated finisher smashed a six to reach his fifty off just 26 balls. Hardik Pandya did his level best earlier to repair the damage caused by the South Africans earlier in the evening. The surface isn’t the easiest to bat on but it will be interesting to see if dew influences the conditions during the 170-run chase.
