New Zealand’s first innings is done and dusted for 553. A marathon knock rom Daryl Mitchell and he did deserve a 200. But it was not meant to be. After being dropped on 4 by Joe Root he has made the hosts pay big time. Blundell scored a hundred too and other handy contributions piloted New Zealand to a giant first innings score. This after being put into bat yesterday. The openers set the tone and then it was the Daryl Mitchell show all the way. Along with Blundell, he tired the English bowlers on a good batting surface.
