In what comes as a big blow to the home side, KL Rahul has been ruled out of the South Africa series. Appointed India’s captain for the five-match series in the absence of Rohit Shrama who has been rested owing to workload management, Rahul is understood to have suffered a side strain that renders him unfit for the bilateral rubber. Rishabh Pant, named vice-captain for the series, predictably, will have to fill in although a formal decision has not yet been taken. India take on South Africa in the T20 series opener at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on 9th June.
