England lynchpin Joe Root moved into the nineties with a masterful straight drive down the ground. Eventually, the century stand between him and Ben Foakes was brought up and Root reached the three-figure mark with a couple past the midwicket region. In the process, he became just the second Englishman after Alastair Cook to cross the 10000-run mark. The former skipper then smacked three fours in a single Tim Southee over to complete the five-wicket win. New Zealand were left rueing their second innings collapse that changed the complexion of the Lord’s Test.
