Three sixes in the final over helped Kolkata Knight Riders finish with a strong total as Andre Russel ended unbeaten on 49. He also became the fastest to 2000 IPL runs in terms of balls faced. KKR were in trouble aplenty in the middle but Sam Billings and Russell ensured they have a solid total on the board. 58 runs were peeled off in the last five overs for the wicket of Billings. The Shreyas Iyer-led franchise managed to put a formidable 177 for 6 on the board despite losing the top-order to the raw pace of Umran Malik.
