(Video) Jamie Siddons backs misfiring Mushfiqur to come good

Mushfiqur Rahim, a vital cog in the wheel for Bangladesh in Tests, has looked a pale shadow of himself of late. The veteran last scored a Test hundred in February 2020, but Jamie Siddons, Bangladesh batting coach, backed him to do well in the upcoming home series against Sri Lanka.

“Every batter goes through patches when they don’t make runs. We’ve worked on a couple of little things with Mushfiq. I have seen some good signs and am really confident that he is going to have a great series,” he said.

“I keep saying that he has got nine hundreds in Chattogram and there is a chance of making another couple. He is very confident,” Siddons added.

Following his unbeaten 203 against Zimbabwe, Mushfiqur has played 18 innings and managed only three fifties while against South Africa he scored a measly 64 runs in the two-match Test series which included a fifty.
