Australia’s new head coach Andrew McDonald has questioned England’s decision to split the coaching role between red and white-ball cricket. England were said to be interested in procuring McDonald’s services before he was confirmed as Justin Langer’s successor.
McDonald revealed the idea of split coaching roles prevented him from considering the job of England’s head coach, reasoning the split can compromise “continuity of messaging”.
