George Bailey, Australia’s Chairman of Selectors, has emphasized that Matthew Wade is still Australia’s first-choice wicketkeeper in the shortest format. Bailey was speaking after Wade was axed from the list of Cricket Australia contracts for the 2022-23 season, with 27-year-old Josh Inglis making the list at his expense. Inglis made his international debut back in February, in a T20I against Sri Lanka at the SCG. He took the gloves in the lone T20I in Pakistan, a tour that Wade wasn’t selected for.
