Pakistan took the new ball and denied Marnus Labuschagne a deserved overseas hundred in the first Test at Rawalpindi. Shaheen Afridi had Labuschagne flashing at a wide one while Nauman Ali quickly removed the dangerous Travis Head. Steve Smith dropped anchor and raised his 34th Test fifty as Cameron Green bided his time at the crease. Pakistan have bowled in decent channels but there is not much in the pitch for the bowlers apart from the odd ball rearing up.
