Marnus Labuschagne was vigilant against the Pakistani pacers and the spinners initially but Australia’s prolific number 3 grew in confidence and notched up his 13th Test fifty. The bowlers tried hard to extract something out of the surface, but given the placid pitch conditions, they couldn’t do much. Steve Smith has gotten off to a good start as well, and given his hunger for big runs he’ll be looking forward to converting it into a formidable score, like his teammates have.
