(Photo) Rahane, Pujara, Hardik, Ishant get demoted in BCCI central contracts

As the Indian team gets ready to carry out a middle-order rejig with the two-Test series against Sri Lanka, Test veterans Ishant Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane and Wriddhiman Saha have all been demoted in the BCCI’s annual retainership contracts. Among the 27 players who are going to be handed contracts for the 2021-22 season, the BCCI has placed Pandya, the star all-rounder whose had a bad run of injuries of late, in Grade C. Opener Shikhar Dhawan, who no longer finds a place in the Test side, has also been identically relegated from Grade A to Grade C.
