(Video) Shanaka’s emergence as pinch-hitter Sri Lanka’s biggest takeaway

Dasun Shanaka’s form had been abysmal of late. In 20 innings as captain until the T20I series opener against India, Shanaka had managed just 334 runs at a strike rate of 107. In the last two matches at Dharamsala though, Shanaka was right into his element. He badgered 47 not out off 19 in the second match, then a stunning 74 not out off 38 in the third, having walked in to bat at a delicate scoreline of 29/4. Sri Lanka didn’t have lower-order firepower in the previous T20 World Cup, and the emergence of Shanaka as a finisher will be a huge positive for the islanders.
