The inclusion of Lahiru Thirimanne, Niroshan Dickwella and Kusal Mendis ( participation subject to fitness) was noteworthy as Sri Lanka named the Test squad for their upcoming two-match series against India, with uncapped legspinner Jeffrey Vandersay earning a call-up. Both Mendis and Dickwella missed the last series against West Indies at home after being slapped with bans for bio-bubble breach in England at the time. Mendis, though, will need to prove his fitness after sustaining a hamstring injury during the fifth T20I against Australia recently.
