Avishka Fernando, Sri Lanka’s 23-year-old top-order batter, has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match T20I rubber against India with a knee injury. All-rounder Ramesh Mendis and fast bowler Nuwan Thushara also didn’t make the cut squad due to a fractured thumb and side strain respectively. Bhanuka Rajapaksa, the middle-order player, didn’t find a place in the squad on the back of fitness issues. Incidentally, in January this year, Rajapaksa had decided to hang up his boots before reversing his decision.
