Matt Henry described his record-shattering feat against South Africa on Thursday, February 17, as ‘a pretty surreal moment’. Henry, getting a rare opportunity in the Test XI, as a replacement for Trent Boult, rode roughshod over the visitors on the first morning of the opening Test in Christchurch to bowl them out for a shambolic 95. His majestic figures of 7/23 are the joint-best ever by a New Zealander at home and the joint-third best overall. Henry shares the third spot with the great Richard Hadlee just behind Ajaz Patel’s 10-fer against India late last year and Hadlee’s 9-52.
