Sam Northeast says he feels fully embedded at the Ageas Bowl after signing a contract extension that will keep him with the county until at least the end of 2022. The middle-order batsman told the county’s website that “it feels a long time since I left Kent” and that having two overseas players would make the championship more competitive this summer. Marcus Harris, the left-handed Australian opener who was recently suspended for a match after knocking over a chair in disputing an umpiring decision while playing for Victoria against Tasmania in the Sheffield Shield, has signed for Leicestershire to play in the county championship and Royal London One-Day Cup. With Marnus Labushagne’s arrival delayed by the Australian domestic season extension, Glamorgan have signed Ireland Test captain, Andy Balbirnie, as an overseas player for the start of the 2021 season. Cricket Ireland have agreed a short-term release for the Dubliner to join the club he spent some time with last year, notching a 99 not out in the Vitality Blast last season.
