Justin Langer has submitted his resignation to Cricket Australia and will step down as the head coach of the men’s team with immediate effect. Langer’s decision was made public on Saturday, February 5, by his management firm. Senior assistant Andrew McDonald has been named interim coach. McDonald was already set to be at the helm for the T20I series against Sri Lanka while Langer rested. He will now lead Australia’s tour of Pakistan with another assistant likely called into the fold on a short-term basis, as per Cricinfo.
UPDATED: Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley says Justin Langer decided not to accept a contract extension through to the end of the T20 World Cup on home soil in November this year. https://t.co/IBbUuXuC6E
