Quinton de Kock was trapped leg before off Shardul Thakur after a dominating 132-run opening stand that knocked the wind out of India’s sails as they set out to defend 288. It was a full toss heading straight for the stumps and de Kock somehow missed it, but the on-field umpire adjudged it not out. On review, it was crashing into middle. The dashing southpaw departed for 78 off 66, having laid the perfect foundation for South Africa to gain an unassailable lead in the three-match series.
