Rishabh Pant embarked on a range-hitting spree in the second ODI against South Africa in Boland Park in Paarl, galloping to 85 off 71 balls – his highest individual score in ODIs – before holing out to Aiden Markram at long-on. His counterpunching knock was laced with 10 fours and two sixes, with the century stand alongside skipper KL Rahul bailing India out of choppy waters after they lost Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli in quick succession. At 186/4 after 33 overs, India now have an ideal launchpad for the fireworks they would expect from Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer.
