England skipper Joe Root acknowledged the dressing room is “gutted” and “bitterly disappointed” after conceding the Ashes 3-0 with a humiliating innings loss in Melbourne. England walked into day three at 31/4 and were shot down for just 68 as Scott Boland put in a match-winning performance by arresting 6 for 7 in the second innings. Root said England must “front up” and somehow salvage pride after being pummeled into submission on Tuesday.
“We need to put some pride back. We’re really disappointed to be 3-0 down with two Test matches to go. We have to try and make sure we come away from this tour with a couple of wins.” #Ashes
