Joe Root and Dawid Malan added 138 for the third wicket on day three to bail England out of choppy waters. The duo had linked up after the visitors were in trouble being reduced to 12/2 yesterday, and played a near-perfect hand through the opening session today to resurrect England gradually. However, they were both dismissed soon after the Dinner interval, with Cameron Green having Root edging to the lone first slip and Malan falling to a well-laid trap by Mitchell Starc. The runs have dried up ever since, with Ben Stokes and Ollie Pope new to the crease.
