Rory Burns poked at a Mitchell Starc lifter to bring second slip into play before Haseeb Hameed chipped a half-volley straight to short mid-on to gift debutant Michael Neser his maiden Test wicket. Australia are right on top, as the visitors lost both their openers with just a dozen runs on the board. The new-ball merchants have bowled in excellent channels, forcing the batters to play rather than leave the deliveries.
