Tom Latham had once again stonewalled India, exhibiting sound defence and temperament to graft a half-century. However, the opener let his guard down ever-so-slightly after reaching the milestone as he dragged on R Ashwin for 52. He went after the wide tempter to cut but the lack of bounce got the better of him, with the ricochet from the underedge crashing into the stumps. Latham wore a dejected look on his face, for he knew the hours of hard work had been undone due to a marginally loose shot.
