The WBBL has been treated to a sensational display of power-hitting from Sydney Thunder batter Issy Wong, who whacked six sixes in a brute of an innings. After the Adelaide Strikers batted first and posted a strong total of 176, the Thunder was lagging behind the asking rate at 3-90 in the 14th over. Wong, who had shown flashes of brilliance in The Hundred, was sent up the order to inject the required momentum. The decision proved a wise one, with the English import bludgeoning 43 runs off 17 balls at a ridiculously high strike rate of 252.94.
It was a record-shattering knock too, as she became the first player in the seventh edition of the WBBL to his three sixes off consecutive balls. However, Wong’s pyrotechnics went in vain as Sydney Thunder ultimately fell 18 runs short of the target.
