Shubman Gill proved the binding glue of Kolkata’s innings as they went about chasing a paltry 116 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. KKR started off conservatively and dropped anchor after the early loss of Venkatesh Iyer and Rahul Tripathi. Nitish Rana wasn’t looking at home as Umran Malik bowled bullets, but Gill took it upon himself to accelerate, making up for Rana’s scratchy day at the office. Despite losing Gill towards the end, Dinesh Karthik came in and delivered a scorching cameo to finish the formalities and take Kolkata home.
