Alex Davies and Lancashire began their chase of 196 against Hampshire at Aigburth in serene style, showing an excellent mix of defence and attacking intent to reach 38/0 by the thirteenth over. It came as the Championship itself was blown wide open, with Warwickshire failing to earn a final bowling point at Edgbaston and thus handing the initiative to Hampshire, who now just need a win to be crowned champions. It will clearly be easier said than done, with Lancs determined to earn a victory of their own that would pile further pressure on the result in Birmingham.
