Joe Leach is to stand down as club captain of Worcestershire County Cricket Club after five years in the role, as per a statement on the club’s website. Leach will continue to turn out for his county purely within a playing role, having guided his team to promotion in the County Championship in 2017 and the semi-finals of the Royal London Cup after assuming the captaincy in 2016. The seaming all-rounder will play his final game as captain in the Championship’s curtain-closing round of fixtures, with Worcestershire taking on Leicestershire at New Road in Division Three from Tuesday.
