Venkatesh Iyer seemed to take rather well to the Indian Premier League, playing some high-class shots on his debut in the competition. After being bowled out for 92, the Royal Challengers Bangalore were bound to be on the back foot from the off, but the Kolkata Knight Riders openers still showed a striking degree of calm. Iyer hit some emphatic strokes through the off side and down the ground, and was joined by Shubman Gill, who had reached 30 not out at the six over mark, off just 21 deliveries. Tougher challenges are surely to come for Iyer and KKR though, one would think.
