Chris Gayle, perhaps in the endeavour to hit the living daylights out of the ball, had his willow splintered into two halves in the Caribbean Premier League. Opening the innings for St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots, Gayle was up against Odean Smith when he flashed his blade at a tempter only to suffer an equipment breakdown. The malfunction aside, Gayle got his franchise off to a flier against Guyana Amazon Warriors, going past 2500 CPL runs in the process.
