Tall and sturdily built, Sir Wesley Winfield Hall brandished express pace and functioned like a workhorse despite his long run-up. Hailing from Barbados, the Windies legend had 48 Test matches to his name between 1958 to 1969. Hall’s opening bowling partnership with fellow Barbadian Charlie Griffith was a feature of the formidable Caribbean teams throughout the 1960s. Hall was among the most popular cricketers of his day and got widespread recognition in Australia, where he represented Queensland for two seasons in the Sheffield Shield.
