The Women’s All-Ireland Twenty20 trophy match between Pembroke CC and Bready Cricket Club was interrupted by an excitable, fluffy young pitch invader on Saturday afternoon. The dog ran straight onto the pitch, as Pembroke missed a run out chance, only for potential buzzers to be ruled out by a quick pick-up from the lively puppy, fielding around cover-point. In a hilarious scene, the dog’s owner sprinted onto the pitch, attempting in vain to catch up as the pup sought comfort from the fuss of the non-striker. Bready went on to win the game, no wonder given their energy in the field.
