England’s women beat New Zealand in a thriller on Thursday night to win their T20 International series 2-1. New Zealand put on 144/4 off their 20 overs at the County Ground in Taunton, chased down by England with just one ball to spare thanks to Sophia Dunkley’s 22 not out off 21 balls. Batting at number six, Dunkley and England required four runs off the final two balls, winning it with a boundary off the penultimate delivery of the innings. After the Hundred brought these stars to an uninitiated public during its inaugural season, the excellent atmosphere at the ground and nature of the game was yet more reason to translate the endorsement of the ECB’s new format onto the rest of the international schedule.
