Sachin Tendulkar was the heartthrob of Indian cricket. His magnificent batting struck an emotional chord with a legion of fans. In an illustrious career spanning over two decades, toppling records proved child’s play for the Master Blaster, and the most eminent of those is the distinction of being the first batsman to score a century of centuries in international cricket.
While Sachin finished off his ODI career with 49 centuries, he didn’t breach the three figures during the initial five years of his limited-overs stint. It was on this day in 1994 that the batting great registered his maiden ODI ton and there was no looking back ever since.
