Rikki Clarke is one of the County Championship’s most consistent, experienced all-round cricketers, and wrote his name further into the history books on Monday as he picked up his 800th wicket in all competitions, that being First Class, List A and T20 cricket. He took the overall figures of 3-34 off 15 overs in Northamptonshire’s first innings. Surrey posted 252 all out in their first dig, restricting their hosts to 171 all out as Northants trailed by 81 runs at tea. The away side continue to have their 39-year-old veteran to thank.
