The pitch conditions were congenial for the batsmen on the second day of the fourth Test at The Oval, and Ollie Pope made hay with an enterprising 81. A riveting third day lies in store, also known in cricketing parlance as ‘moving day’ for its tendency to swing the needle either way. Indian openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul have expertly negated the new ball, as has been the case in the series so far, and the onus will be on them to ensure the tourists hold the aces by the end of what should be an action-packed day of Test cricket.
