COVID protocols see young CPL star ejected from tournament

COVID protocols have become the norm in international cricket over the past eighteen months, as have several breaches of their regulatory code. Jofra Archer was one of the first to face punishment for not abiding by the rules, followed by several Sri Lankan players who received lengthy bans for their behaviour.

On this occasion the perpetrator was Mikyle Louis of the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, who has been forced to leave the Caribbean Premier League after bursting their COVID bubble, as reported by ESPNCricinfo. The 21 year old left the hotel that the team were staying in without permission, and will now face the harsh consequences.

Louis had not yet appeared for his side in the tournament, and was said to have left the hotel due to some tragic news relating to a friend of his, but the league refused to grant an exception to their concrete COVID-related rules, whilst understanding the nature of the situation. Despite the controversy, the Patriots sit atop the table after securing their third consecutive win on Sunday.
